I donated blood today.

It is my maiden blood donation experience. I think due to my loud speaker mouth, practically the whole class, the whole school and all my neighbours know I donated blood today.

Haha. I just told my dad. To my horror, he shouted:" Why? Donate blood will make you fatter." Gosh. I got the fright of my life.

I felt really loved and supported by my friends today. I kept harping on the fact that I am going to donate blood. You can't blame me what. That oh xiao ming kept telling me that i was going to "die" and "become a dried corpse" of i donate blood.Blech. I did it!

And so, I went into the room with 3 very supportive friends/ supporters/ good friends, Jia yan, Fengyi and Bryan. It was really touching because they were not going to donate blood and yet they went down there specially to support me.

I felt like a warrior, my blood was glorified by the presence of my friends alone. Haha. Heng they were with me. They kept making actions, even took pictures of me because my camera batt went flat.

Thank you! The thought of donating blood was refreshing. This is the type of excitement I have been talking about for so long, just this one thin line I am treading on that lies between fear and excitement. Its that UH! that I have been looking for.

The nurse told me:" You have no veins."
Taysi:" What? Poke lei. I have." ( SHocked)
The nurse says," maybe you shouldn't donate today because your veins are too fine on the right hand."
Taysi:" Please, I insist that you help me because I would really like to donate."
The nurse:" Ok, I change to left hand. Wah your vein is very very deep. I might have to prick until I find a suitable vein."

Other nurses came and go, wanting to have a go at my blood. Heng, this elderly nurse in charge of me since the start, who was aforementioned said :" No, she's mine. I will take care of her." Xie xie auntie! Because she said that my vein was so deep that it was an unusual and special case. woohoo.

End up she never prick and prick because she was super skilful. She made it in one try. I was so grateful. It didn't hurt at all. On the contrary to popular belief. But it is also the truth that I have a high threshold for pain when it comes to doing things that excite me. I took 3 pricks in all, first to test the condition of blood(good condition), second, the injection for anaesthetic, the third is the insertion of the tube for blood.

It took average human a minimum of 15 mins to fill up a bag. The slower ones 30-45 mins. Your friend me took a miraculous time of...................3 mins. I just opened the TIME mag wanting to read it and haven't even started, was just looking at the picture, then the nurse shouted:" WAH. YOU SO FAST AH.!"

Don't need to clap. I have always known that I am special, right? * grins and this is meant for Fengyi."

Noone could believe that I can fill up a bag so quickly. They said I had an excess of blood.

Great, first I have deep vein then I have a lot of blood. I have normal blood pressure also. I don't have AIDs, malaria, hep b, diabetes. I can help people, why not? I can help one person I think.

And the best of all, I got this special pink bandage with purple hearts on it. I love it. My friends all signed on it.

My hands are shaking uncontrollably. Due to loss of blood? I don't know.

Thank you Fengyi! You seriously are a kindred spirit, you know? Just for your company alone, I really am grateful that you accompanied me for like 3 hours? Because oh xiao ming had to wear nice nice. haha.
